Spam-bot countermeasures

Postby homehacker2 » Mon Mar 25, 2013 9:08 pm

We've just updated our Spam-bot countermeasures to include a graphic from peoplesign, adding a secondary protected layer against spamming robots.

In just three days, there has been 18 registrations attempts. 6 of which have failed to verify, and the others have just been creating posts that are not welcome here.

All of the aforementioned accounts have now been deleted.

If the user-registration total for unidentified users(users whom do not hold a IRC nickname on our network) subsides, then the "newly registered accounts" restriction may be lifted.

As listed in the previous message, there has been no more unauthorised users for the last week.
Therefore, new users will not have a posting restriction.

Since the update to phpBB 3.1.5 The peoplesign(: add on has not been updated to the latest version, it has been disabled until it's updated by the developer to support the new versions.

Hopefully, this will be updated soon and that'll resume soon. For now, we'll be running a different spam-bot countermeasure.
